LMC Global team was at Awombrew village on October 20, 2019 for mission work with Awomberew Baptist Church. (Awomberew Village is located between Winneba Junction and Swedru Township) The team left Accra early hours in morning and arrives the same day. The journey was peaceful and the team was ready for church service with the indigenous church members. Deacon Isaac Fiifi Kakraba led the church in an opening prayer; it was a wonderful time in God’s presence.
Sunday school teaching session followed at about 9: 00 am. The Sunday school was very interactive and impactful; the sense of participation and commitment to learn and know the scriptures was a blessing. The Topic for teaching was “Understanding of LOVE”. The text was taking from 1 John 4: 7 – 8; “Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God, and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is Love”. (KJV). By the end of the Sunday school, the congregation was edified with understanding; the God of Love we serve. It show us how we must continue to live and show love to others, living the life of Love, and who we must show love to. Worship and praises continues afterward and this was led by the worship team.
It was time to hear the preaching of the word of God after a wonderful song ministration from the church choir. The sermon was delivered by Pastor Obed Richard, the text was from the book of Isaiah 40:31; “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”.(KJV). Pastor Obed Richards preached on the subject “the purpose of waiting and what to do when waiting on God”; the congregation was challenged and understands why it is important for a Christian to wait on God, what takes place during waiting and what to do after waiting. God’s word for us on that Sunday morning was an eye opener to many at church service and a blessing to everyone. Pastor Obed Richards then led the church into prayer session for supernatural grace and power of God to touch those depressed and oppressed.
There from Rev Arcton was invited to the podium; he spoke to the church and explained biblical truth on being baptized by water and by the Holy Spirit. He encouraged the congregation especially all those who are not yet baptized to participate in the teaching service to learn more before water baptism by immersion comes on soon. He them throw more light on testimonies of others who through baptism by immersion experience the work of the Holy Spirit in their personal life. He also prayed and blessed the church to be filled with the fullness of God and joy of the Holy Spirit at all time. Church service came to a close that day.
Our Mission team stayed behind after Church service and together with youth of the Church and spent quality time in prayer in the presence of the Lord. We prayed for the people within the community for revival and salvation of many, spiritual maturity for the youth in the local churches and the leaders of the community. We also prayed for the leaders in government of Ghana, for a peaceful election in Ghana 2020.
Our prayer session was seal with powerful prayer from Rev Arcton for the nation Ghana, the community, opinion leaders, political party, schools leaders and youth of the Nation.
After visitation to some members of the Church within the community our team decided to journey back home to Accra.
